"Agh.... every. single. time!"

With his face buried into the dirt by the incoming tides, Umi was left confused an weakened from the unknown amount of time he spent battered by the sea. His memory was hazy, the last thing he could remember was defending his ship while they were assaulted by a devastating meteor shower, but he was unsure of how, with the group deep within the Longchamp mountains, he could have made it to the ocean from there.

Opening up his magical archive, Umi was able to locate himself using magical spirits similar to as GPS, one of the more basic features of his Archive. With his magical tracker he was located just off the coast of Phoenicus, far up in the northwest corner of the magical world.

"Well, better head into town, Accelerate"

Joseph had reached a small town in the Tharsis region, "Phew, that was a long trip." Joseph said while stretching his arms out as he got out of the "fish ship". "These beaches better be worth it. I need to relax a bit." Joseph said as he intended to relax in these vacations he needed.

Joseph first headed into a store to buy some basic supplies, food, medicine and maps. 'I hope this turns out okay...', Joseph though.

"....There's a person up ahead..."

With his ESP, Umi searched the area for any signs of life, from each house, to the streets of Phoenicus, there was nobody around that he could sense. Without people, Umi had no measure of time to apply to his sparse memories, much of what he remembered was hazy, almost fading away with each thought.

The signs of life, the "presence" of a person on Umi's ESP range was a god send, he would need to investigate it. With a push of his broom, he off to find the life he sensed a hundred meters away from him. He arrived in a second, dropping from the sky as his staff lost the magic that allowed it to fly, he was surprised to find the young earth mage he met some time ago, and quickly left behind to fend for himself. How serendipitous.

"Excuse me, are you from around here?"

Joseph was walking away from the town on his way to the beach. He wasn't paying much attention to what was above so he was caught completely by surprise by a boy falling from the sky, "HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS." he blurted out. The boy suddenly asked Joseph a question, if he was from around here.

"What? No, no I'm not. I'm just here on a little vacation." Joseph answered. He noticed the boy looked a bit confused and seemed tired. "Are you alright? Do you want some water." Joseph said as he took out a water bottle from his bag. He couldn't quite pin point it but he felt he had met this boy before, though he didn't recognize his face.

"Its fine, i never get thirsty, im made of water"

He took his out stretched finger and placed it on his chest, poking himself with it. It was something he did fairly often, to demonstrate how made of water he actually was. To someone he did not know, his finger would pass straight into his chest and into him. Ordinarily that would be the case, but this time, his finger pressed up against his chest, and rather than go through it, stayed perfectly still.

"What?! Why am i not made of water, excuse my sir, what color are my eyes to you?!"

His eyes, the container of his intense magical power, were always a ghostly blue, and ethereal color that could not be matched by any other human in the world. His eyes were influenced by the power of the Ultimate Spirit of Water, and would cause drastic effects should a person look directly into them. Ordinarily this would be the case, but if his body was back to normal, then his eyes would be regular eyes again.

'Is this guy high or something?' Joseph thought to himself when he said he was made of water and suddenly touch his chest in which nothing happened. The man seemed a surprised when nothing happened and suddenly asked Joseph a weird question.

"Your eyes? They're blue... a dark strong regular blue" Joseph said as he took a look into his eyes. "Are you sure you're ok, I mean you seem really out of it. Where do you come from? Maybe I can take you there or something."

"No its fine, its just, im not a water spirit anymore......im just a regular mage again.."

Setting his broom down a flight mode, he let it hover above the ground as he fell back into it. It was a shock to say the least, his body was made of water, his body was no longer the puppet of a spiritual being far beyond his capacity to control. He was confused and startled by the fact that he was human again, he was not the powerful being he used to be, he was just average. Then his mind traced back to his faltering memories, with part of his memories gone, he had no idea what or who made him human again.

"Im just a little flustered kid, i woke up on the beach down there an hour ago, and i dont remember how i got here, or why im not made of water anymore.."

"Well what the last thing you remember? Maybe if you retrace your steps we can find out who did this to you." Joseph said being a bit concerned. It was in his nature to help people who needed help, and this person didn't appear to be lying.

Joseph chanted a spell and an earth staff was formed from the ground. "If you can't remember I can always hit you in the head with this. That's one way of curing amnesia." Joseph said as a small joke

"Thats the thing, i was in Utopia the last i remember, thats on the opposite side of the world from here"

With his brief moment of confusion over, Umi was able to regain his composure, and remembered the original problem he had before he met this earth mage: what happened to all the people?

"So do you know what happened to the townspeople?"

Utopia? That was too far away. What was up with this guy. "Townspeople? Now that you mention it I haven't seen anyone for awhile. I've been here for a few hours and the only person I've seen is the clerk of a small shop a couple of meters away from here... You don't think that the lack of people here has something to do with what happened to you, do you?"

"A single towns person? Suspicious, i think we need to investigate this lone citizen of a normally thriving town."

With a snap of his fingers, his magic staff flipped into the air, laying parallel to the ground, it was laced with basic flight magic, and would function as well as any broom in the Magic Knight Brigades. Jumping onto the staff to ride it like a surfboard, he motioned for the earth mage to hop on.

"Here, take the staff's edge, its the safest part of the broom"

"You want me get on that?" Joseph said pointing to the staff. Even though he wasn't afraid of flying he definitely preferred to stay on the ground. But taking flight was definitely the fastest way. Joseph slowly got on and grabbed the edge of the staff like the guy said. 'Balance balance balance' was all Joseph thought.

"By the way if I'm going to help I should know what to call you. My name's Joseph." Joseph said introducing himself first.

"Umi, now get on the broom and stay on!"

With a brief command, the broom was racing off to the location of the lone towns person. Though, Umi really didnt know where he was...

"Which direction again?"

(Short cause im lazy)

"It's Northwest from here."

As the broom kept going Joseph looked to the ground and took a couple of deep breaths since he wasn't used to riding a broom. He really didn't notice and couldn't believe that the entire place was deserted. The broom was going pretty fast so the small village was now in sight.

"That's it over there."

"Well, i feel no killer intent from that area, in fact i still dont feel much of anything from over there...."

Hopping off his broom, he let Joseph off with a slight shake, before it returned to his left hand. The village was a suburb of Pheonicus, and with the only "person" in the entire city, it would make sense to start there first, but it seemed a little eerie.This person was alone in a city that housed well over a thousand people, and while everyone has been disappeared, this lone person remains in his house for whateverr reason .Just in case, Umi brought his barriers up, a supreme defense against any sort of attack.

"Stay behind me, Mr. Joseph. I dont want to have any mistakes if things get ugly"

Mr. Joseph? Joseph had never been called Mr. but this wasn't the time to think about that. He couldn't believe how ignorant he had been to not notice how empty this place was. "Yeah Umi, after you." Joseph said as they opened the door to the store/house. When he first looked inside Joseph couldn't see anything or anyone, "Hey you said you could feel no killing intent here, could you be able to feel if there is someone here?

"Naturally, but its not like sight or hearing, i cant tell what they are, just that they are here. Right now, he's in the back room of this house, so be on your toes"

Opening the door to the house with a force push, Umi peered into the room for any signs of life, or evidence, that the person would be armed. The house was completely empty, and moving further into the house, seemed as if somebody was living in it. The furniture was well kept, but was now getting dusty, all the food and other items were put away, so they must have had time to clean up.

"Gero Gero, Artis Specialis Sagitta Magica Series Undinis, cantu clavens, moven sit verba 'Dominus Aquarius'..."

In the event of the thing being aggressive, Umi had chanted out a delay spell for his Sagitta Magica spell. With a command, he would launch the spell at the entity, which was starting to gain magical power, it seemed to have spotted the two, and was preparing to attack.

"Dead Sea, Dead Sea Aquarius exudans, inimicum mea dispulsa! Magna Cataracta!"

"Mobiliter!"

Grabbing Joseph by the arm, Umi brought his staff into flight mode and shot out the door, as the house exploded with the forceful crushing power of a tower of water, dropping onto the house as the two mages fled.

Joseph didn't have much time to react as he was flown out thanks to Umi who had destroyed the house. "What the hell man. Was there something in there that I didn't see?!?! What's going on?!?!?" Joseph said as he and Umi were still in the air.

(Short but Meh whatever)

"I didnt do anything, THATS what attacked us"

Hovering a few meters in the air, Umi pointed the the thing climbing out of the rubble of the house, it was almost entirely dark colored, its skin looked like an unnatural shape and color, it had large piercing eyes, and twin horns on the side of its face. Raising a clawed hand, it began chanting again.

"Dead Sea Dead Sea, Pilum Pluvialis"

From the the creatures out stretched hand, a vorted of water formed in its palm, creating a large blue spear, shaped like a javelin, the spear glowed bright as sun passed through the water it was made of, giving it a beautiful blue The spear flew from the creatures hand straight at the pair with the speed or a warhead. The spear shredding through the Umi's barrier, piercing it as he shifted the broom to the right at the last second. With his barrier in pieces, Umi was forced to fight without it. Looking at Joseph, he hoisted him onto the staff and ordered him to attack the creature

"Whats wrong with you? Cast a spell!"

"What is that?" Joseph was shocked when he saw that huge black thing come out from the rubble. He could only think of one spell that might work on that thing on the moment. "Petracious Oblintus! Rumpus orbis terrarum subter supter nostrum pluma!" forming a hole in the ground beneath the beast, 15 meters wide and 15 meter down, hoping to trap the beast in the hole. "I can't use my magic to the fullest from up here. It's easier for me on the ground, I can a provide distractions for you."

"Well, i think its a water spirit, but not of any kind i've seen before.... and it broke my barriers in a single attack, its no slouch"

His broom dropped below the skyline and duck into the streets below in the city, dropping Joseph off on the street a few meters away from the monster. He would have to plan some sort of strategy. In the mean time he would need Joseph to act as the attacker, while he would provide defense. Reaching out he touched Joseph's arm and began chanting his strength enhancement spell.

"Gero Gero! Jovis Corpus, Precari Nos Dare Nostrum Sociae Cum Confirmare, Dolere Confirmarum!"

Sending his magic into him, he magically enhanced Joseph's strength, and, reciting the words to his other spell, enchanted his speed.

"Gero Gero! Jovis Corpus, Precari Nos Dare Nostrum Sociae Cum Properare, Dolere Properum!"

He took off on his broom once again, ready to relay commands to him from the high in the air, distracting the creature while Joseph attacked it.

"Umi:Bring out your strongest spell, cause you'll probably need it"

"Yeah, leave it to me. You just figure out how to beat it." Joseph said as he got off the broom. He peeked through the corner of a house and saw the water spirit getting up from the hole. Joseph took a deep breath getting ready to fight and stepped outside.

"Petracious Oblintus! Vultus of nex ut punctum meus hostilis!"

Joseph created two long, strong and dense stone spears. He quickly threw both of them at the spirit and they pierced them, though being made out of water it didn't do anything to it except get it attention. "Ok, now the fun starts." The spirit extended it claw toward Joseph and chanted the same spell that broke Umi's barrier.

"Orbis terrarum est meus domus mos servo mihi ex vulnero!"

A strong wall of earth 10 meters tall and 3 meters thick rose up, blocking the water attack.

"Rumpus orbis terrarum subter supter nostrum pluma"

A hole was made beneath Joseph which he closed when he fell in. After disaperring the earth wall feel down and the spirit had no idea where Joseph had went as it looked around for him confused. Joseph was chanting hole spells making his way beneath the water spirit.

(The Pilum Pluvialis spell is rank 9, your rock wall cant defend you against that. But it would have been smarter to shirt the ground under it slightly, knocking it off balance and changing the spears trajectory.)

" I didnt mean attack directly!"

Shooting off towards Joseph by accelerating his staff, he released his delay spell, hitting the creature at close range with a hail or blue arrows. Chanting out a few more words, his barrier would be back up in a few seconds.

(I didn't know it was rank 9, i thought maybe with strength boost my wall could've withstand one of those attacks)

As Joseph was underground he noticed when he under the spirti since he saw the ceiling leaking water. "This should grabs it attention." "Orbis terrarum est meus domus mos servo mihi ex vulnero!" A wall 9 meters tall rose fast from beneath the spirit. This wall should either toss the spirit a few meters into the air or split some part of it in two.

"Accelerat!"

With his barriers still down, Umi was forced to use hit and run tactics in order to avoid the explosion of water created by the monster, which started chanting out another attack while Umi kept his distance, this time, it was aimed at Joseph. Without a moments delay, Umi dove straight down, flying in between the monster and Joseph before the monster loosed another watery explosion, using the huge pools of water to his advantage, he cast the fastest spell he knew.

"Undans Paries Aquarius"

With his only other defense spell, Umi was out of ideas, his swirling wall of water would only hold him off for a few more seconds before it would go down again.
He needed time to think.
