| Mortimer had finally found it. After tearing through book after book he had discovered what could be done if he just had enough power. An old curse, more superstition than actual magic but if Mortimer had pieced things together properly he thought he could bestow this power on someone. It was designed to take all of a persons hatred, disgust and contempt and channel it into a curse. And all it would take was to look at a person the proper way. The curse known as the evil eye. |

| "Curses? how dangerous, I think we need to come up with our Ryu-gu-jo magic. I have several ideas on magic that will allow us to help our members. But im gonna need your help to theorize and accomplish them"
Umi withdrew several more books, as well as his Senji Ryakketsu. He put the Sagitta Magica on hold and focused on his forte, teamwork. From those tomes he withdrew several files and displayed them in his Archive Interface. They were basic simulations of these magic spells and their theoretical requirements.
"This is just the first 20 or so... And i have a wonderful way to allow our members to use these spells!"

| Looking up from his research strewn notes he looked over to Umi.
The display showed a series of theoretical spells. They were complex but it seemed like they were streamlined so that virtually anyone could cast them... So long as they had enough power or were connected to something.
"Does it have anything to do with a central power being remotely directed to the members, letting them unleash the spell templates using power from the central battery?" |

| "I have a crazy idea for the central battery, but WE need to be much stronger before we even try it..Lets focus on our ideas first."
Umi was at an impasse he had to decide whether to continue on with his attack magic, or use this time to create Team forms for the members of his team and began to demonstrated the ideas to him.
"See it uses several types of magic, Summoning, Barriers, Elemental Magic, Telepathy, Jamming, Sensing.. and if we get the magic battery, we can give our members all of these, Like this one, the Anti-Material Bounded Field"

| "I'm sensing a "but" coming" Mortimer replied flatly.
The system itself was ingenious. Mortimer was scanning through each of them in turn, however he was not without reservations on this. Configuring so many spells into a single object would be difficult in and of itself. He could hardly imagine how they would be able to integrate them into a single object. The system would naturally require a veritable TON of magical energy for just one talisman to be forged. Then it would need some kind of system to accumulate magical energy before spouting it out in the desired template. After which it would not only need a cooldown time before another spell could be cast (lest the talisman break) but it would also require time for the talisman to recover its power, unless directly brought to the central power source which it could obtain energy from at a distance.
Quite simply, it would be like trying to make the magical equivilant of an advanced palm held multi-media device (I-phone). BUt other than just the design factors they would need to work out to organize all of this, he had reservations about the possible consequences such a device would have on the world. Yes, storing spells in magical objects was a common practice and had been around for centuries so that a single object could be relied upon to deliver needed magical support which the caster was unprepaired to utilize themselves. But to put it all into a single device... it was simply too powerful. It was like introducing a gun into a world of swordsman. Using a device like this could effectively make he need for powerful mages obsolete. Anyone with enough money could purchase a device like this and become a magi in seconds once the designs were complete.
Mortimer theorized of a way for the talismans to not require recharging or cool down time but quickly stopped himself before he came to the conclusion. He was in Umi's head now and all the more susceptible to his mind reading abilities. Mortimer could only imagine the destruction that could occur with an infinite talisman in the hands of someone crazy enough to use it. |

| "Not to hard if your a spirit contracted to the Ultimate Spirit of Water, I can conjure up unlimited amounts of power if succumb to it's control, now help me with this next Barrier..."
Setting up the proper calculations on his Archive, he would be able to monitor the levels used in the spell while he was casting it. Now all he needed was another person supplying magical power to the spell.

| Mortimer began supplying his own magic into the barrier. He felt Umi's power as he poured his own into the initial weaving Umi performed, reinforcing the structure of the barrier. Letting Umi slip away Mortimer maintained both of their weavings concentrating on maintaing the pattern and structure of the barrier.
"Maintaining the barrier. Procede with the test." |

| "Ryu-gu-jo Form 2: Team Anti-Material Barrier: Ten Sacred Gourds!"
Umi used his magic as a catalyst and formed the large bounded field, pushing all physical objects out of the area as it manifested.
"Hmm... all calculations seem stable....Throw something at it Al"

| Forming his nocturna jaqulatio Mortimer sent the three spear-like ribbons arcing towards a central point. He had managed to take out the dorms support structures using this method. He wondered if a similar thing could occur here. |

| "Hm.. it seems stable, i guess even shadows have physical substance.."
The barrier area deflect the shadow javelin and sent it flying until it slammed into the ground, taking the readings off of the attack, Umi made adjustments to the barriers powers.
"But it seems that the area of it is a lot larger than than the anti-spirit barrier. it's odd..."

| ..."Could it be compensation? A spirit barrier needs to be as dense as possible to keep even the smallest amount of spirit energy from getting through. Wouldn't an anti-physical barrier be less compact given that it just needs to provide enough electromagnetic force to repel atoms? Thus allowing for the same amount of energy to be used for a larger barrier in exchange for a barrier only made against physical attacks. Or could it be an astral thing, with the spirit shield taking up space on both the spiritual and physical planes, making its overall size smaller since it is technically inhabiting two planes at once?" |

| "Thats a valid hypothesis. if-"
The world started to shake violent and Umi felt that a part of his brain start become lighter and knew what it was. He gathered up his magical belongings and motioned for Al to come over to him.
"Im not stronger enough to keep this up for more than 4 hours, so we'll have to continue this some other time Mortimer.."
Umi transported them both out of him mind and they returned to their bodies on Mortimer's island.
