I assumed it was from the GReat Grand Master Key, or all Fate's might just have that barrier

i really love negima!! I think that the barriers are theres, i mean barriers aren't elemental so its not odd for them to know a high level barrier that protects them!

Some barriers are elemental, I'm not sure on things like Deflectio. I think they're just hardened/compressed magic.

there are elemental and non elemental types, but usually the elemental ones end up just be shields that last for awhile, but not nearly as long as the magical array barriers that people use

Certain types of elemental walls are anti-physical or anti-magical, or instant.

However, the magic barrier is a basic thing to create, and has none of the elemental weakness something else may have, however, there really isnt a better or worse, just the non-elemental one lasts much much longer
