Shadow manipulation and shundo (Training mission)

Mortimer was back in the field again, sleeping on the schools well manicured grounds. Normally he would be enjoying the sunlight and being his usual lazy self but this time he was actually preparing. The upcoming operation would require greater skill and ability than what he had now. It was for this reason that resting under his head as a pillow were two important documents. The first was a grimoire, a text on the melding of shadows into physical substance. The second was a scroll asian in origin, originally meant for ki users to show them how to perform the technique shundo. However, given Mortimers magical talents it would work just as well for him. Waking up from his nap, Mortimer began reading the scroll first paying particular attention to the way energy was focoused around the feet...

Shundo Moritmer flew across the field at record speeds, going so fast he was blind to his surroundings... and summarily crashing to the ground when he lost his footing and momentum. Well that didn't go as planned. Standing up and brushing hiself off, Mortimer attempted the manuever again...with the same result. He found that the more energy you concentrated before jumping off, the faster and farther you would go... the problem was that too much energy meant going forward blind and tumbling to the ground, while too little meant the technique would not work. Laying down Mortimer looked up at the sky, hoping that if he daydreamed enough he could come up with ome sort of an epiphany... fifteen minutes later and he still had nothing. Eventually his thoughts turned to the oft dreamed about subject, WHAT COULD BE DONE WITH INFINiTE MAGIC. If a person had infinate magic, could they fly to the moon with shundo... moon...lander...GOT IT. Standing up once more Mortimer attempted shundo again, except this time he sent magical energy out the opposite direction he was moving before he came to a complete stop. Just like a lunar lander, he applied thrust in a reverse direction to allow himself to come to a complete stop. Granted he was still blind as he was moving and that he would need to plot out where he wanted to be before he used the technique but he had read that such actions were normal. Attempting the move several more times until he knew just how much force he needed to travel and stop at certain distances, he was satisfied with the work he accomplished. Now he just had to figure out how to manipulate shadows... this was going to take a little longer...

Apparently, the shadow manipulation technique was similar to umbrae militis (OOC;it sounds better than just Umbra and its more specific as to what it does) in that it involved investing spirits into shadow causing it to have a physical manipulatable form. Except this time, it wasn't spirits it was raw magical energy. It would also be more difficult than the ormal investment of spirits as they would normally take a hold of the image he designated their form into so he could just concentrate on keeping them tethered and not on their actual bodies. Here, he would have to focous on the form of the shadow the entire time. step1; invest your magic into a shadow "Enter the eternal", muttering his activation key, Mortimer activated his magic channel, and began putting his energy into the shadow before him, filling it in and making it solid. Leaning down, he peeled his shadow off the ground as if it were a piece of ductape... "Now what am I supposed to do with you"? Thinking back to the grimoire, it stated that one had to "shape the shadow in accordance to ones will and power", whatever that meant. Letting the shadow fall to the ground he sat down cross legged, one shoulder propped on his knee with his palm holding up his chin... After several minutes he stood up again, having reached an epiphany... "Clothes". Focousing the magical energy around his body, he then sent out a bit of energy through his feet, onto the waiting shadow. However, this time, he wasn't investing all the magic at once... instead he sent just enough to get the shadow to move. He then proceeded to direct the shadow to snake up his body and follow the template he had outlined with his suit of magical energy. At last, when the shadow had completely followed the energy to his satisfaction, Mortimer poured as much energy as he could into the solidified shadow stuff, thus making it into a fully solid two-tailed suit, the kind that butlers of the 19th century used to wear, and which was (stereotypically at least) the common undertakers garb. "now it just needs a test run". Summoning a single Umbre Militis, he directed the spirit to punch him in the gut. Just like in the library he felt the same battle like his right and left arms doing battle but in the end, the minions arm disintigrated first. "My turn" he said as he returned the force of the spirits attack in full and more. Although the shadow glove on his fist seemed somewhat tattered by the time the minion had faded out, by and large the attack was tremendously more affective than it would have been with a normal magically enhanced punch. Readying his other fist, this time he invested more magical energy in the shadow glove, and punched straight into the ground. The field reverbrated with the force of the punch and a small crater formed near the impact site. Allowing the magicly infused clothes to fade away, Mortimer stood up and smiled to himself... then fell down as he was completely drained of magical energy. Maybe he should use that card he got from umi, Mortimer thought o himself as he shuddered at the memmory of what he had to do to get it. "never doing that again". Adeat

Just go with it man, I don't mind kissing a dude, Mortimer on the other handwas a little grossed out by it. Besides, your only gay if your attracted to men. For goodness sakes, you could have gay sex and stillbe straight so long as you weren't actually attracted to the person your F*&%ing. Or do you just not want more ammo for Will to flame you about being gay with?

With that, Mortimers artifact materialized before him. A tophat...of all the powerful and amazing artifacts in the world I get a tophat... Although dismayed by his seemingly pointless artifact, Mortimer nonetheless donned it. Upondoing so, he was instantly revitalized. His limbs became infused with magic, his senses became sharper and the world seemed to slow down just a little bit. Now that's what I'm talking about. Standing up in the recently created crater, Mortimer felt like he could do anything he wanted... and what h wanted was sleep. Falling back down, Mortimer collapsed with the hat covering his eyes. I'll just sleep here till is time for the mission Unbenownst to Mortimer, the artifact remained in effect, accelerating his mind instead of his sedentary body, thus making his sleep shorter... until he fell back again. "Need more sleep... go when Umi calls... gets off back....zzzzzz"
