Barriers are a bit unfair when put against weaker opponents. I find them a bit too powerful.

I though the same, but after all it's just a spell no? If something such as a spell seem too strong you just have to prepare a counter....

I guess... it would be truly unfair though if you could slice someone with a barrier. That would be the most annoying fight ever. However a flaw in that would be if the person misses then the barrier would be behind you and you would be free to attack.

Unless you have super speed like Rita, I don't think you could run inside the barrier before it's chanted.

The only way to defeat barriers is wait for it to end or destroy it with a spell equal or higher to the rank.

What about barrier breaker spells? Like Sekkai (I think it was called that!), spells that are aimed to break barriers stronger than the user?

Its not whether anti-barrier spells can exist, it's just it's unfair for a 4th rank spell to destroy a 12th rank barrier.

Barrier's are also legal, they're in Negima, and the are virtually the only thing keeping mages alive in a fight (low stamina and low agility)

You're perfectly true, a rank 4 spell can't break a rank 12 barrier, but there a lot of other thing you can do, like combining a barrier breaking spell with another to up the level of barrier it can crush, etc... You just have to be creative.

This. I think merging ki or another spell with a rank 8 spell could break a rank 9 spell.

Or you can even preparing special spell that are mean to reinforce other against barrier.

I agree with that, but then you have to go in practicality and such, and even then it gets more complicated because in PVP you can only perform one attack spell action, otherwise, it's unfair.

Barrier Breakers arent end all be all, just keep them legal Greater than or equal, and there allowed. To be fair a Rank 8 attack spell would break a rank 8 barrier anyways, so it's not like that extra Rank 4 Barrier Breaker is gonna make a difference..

The barrior are OP when your charac is stronger than the opponent, but at equal level you can break them easily.

Barriers are the only thing keeping mages alive, they have no stamina or agility, without them Ki-users are overpowered because mages with barriers aren nearly fast enough to hit them, ministers typically cant match them and a fast Ki user with a rank 5 attack would devaste mages...

That's not true. Magical Duelists can be just as quick as ki-users and unleash more destructive attacks on them.

Not only that, wizards have spells that could 'Lock On' to the enemy or be so big that they can't destroy the enemy. Once they get to 1000 slashes, ki-users are pretty limited there. Magic users don't have limitations.

Thus why in lower to medium levels barriers are key.... And why barrier breakers have to be greater than or equal too..

Barrier breakers have to be equal or higher than the barrier? But that's not the rules.

The rules is, if the spell that hits the barrier is higher or equal to the barrier, it breaks. No matter the spell, unless it's buffing/healing.

So, barrier breakers themself should be able to break barriers stronger then them, that's why they're barrier breakers.

My barrier breaker, Magma Fist goes like this:

Destroys equal or lesser barriers in one punch (one post).
Destroys one rank higher in two punches (two posts).
Destroys two rank higher in four punches (three~four posts).

Etc...

One more rank

Anyway, you don't have any spells to defend my Magma Fist, or in fact, most of my other spells.

Magma fist beeds to be nerfed, and you have like 20 intelligence, you shouldnt have spells strong enough to break my barriers
