Type: Offensive/ Defensive
Range: 15 meters
Incantation: Exorior phasmatis ut habito in meus animus , tribuo mihi macies umbra redimio contego
Effect; By partially utilizing an incomplete version of the nocturna nigredinis spell, Mortimer summons the shield used by the shadow golem and uses it himself. The barrier appears as a blend of shadow and cloth surrounding Mortimer on the rear and on his right and left side. In its typical state it has no effect and merely floats around him uselessly, however if Mortimer is capable of detecting an attack incoming he can cause the shroud shield to wrap around him and protect him. As he is still inexperienced, the protection will not activate automatically to a percieved attack. Should an opponent get inside of the "orbiting shroud" they may attack Mortimer without fear of the shroud being activated. However when he is surrounded by the shield Mortimer cannot move or cast magic spells. If struck with 4* its rank of force in a single turn the shroud will dissipate, however damage to it is not cumulative and so it must either be destroyed all at once or it will not be broken at all. This spell lasts for four consecutive turns before dissipating.
Nocturna Jaqulatio - (3)
Type: Offensive/ Defensive
Range: 15 meters
Incantation: Exorior phasmatis ut habito in meus animus , tribuo mihi macies umbra redimio telum
Effect; This spell summons the windswept streamers found in the spell Nocturna Nigredinis. These lines of shadow float behind the caster in a downward facing fan pattern. At this level there are a total of 3 of them. When activated the streamers will elongate and soar twords their intended target similar to a saggitta magica spell, except acting as long razor thin blades rather than blunt magic arrows. After firing one of the streamers, a one post cool down is required before the "lance" returns to its original position and can be fired again. This spell lasts until Mortimer dispels it though he is unable to cast any other spells while this is active.

Shadow shaping – (8) +2 rank
Type: Utility
Incantation: N/A, requires no incantation as it is channeling magic through a medium then manually shaping it rather than having it perform a specific task. It is essentially an extension of Shundo.
Range: Close (must be touching/ standing near) a shadow or area of low light.
Effect: The user sends magical power into a shadow and shapes it into some form of inanimate object. The size and density of the object is dependent on the amount of magic used in its creation and the amount of shadow available at the time. Supposedly, any weapon created with this is magically enhanced and can deal damage comparable to a close ranged sagitta magica spell. The objects created will last until Mortimer dispels them or Mortimers concentration is broken, this can be dealing damage to Mortimer or the objects equal to 4* their in a single turn. However damage to it is not cumulative and so it must either be destroyed all at once or it will not be broken at all.
Shundo – (3) +1 rank
Type: Utility
Incantation: N/A
Range: 15 meters max
Effect: By sending magical energy beneath himself, Mortimer is capable of launching himself at intense speeds between two unobstructed points, almost instantaneously. As he moves, he leaves after images from the point he was previously standing in. However he must start on solid ground and can only travel in straight lines while using this technique. It is possible to predict where he will travel and so intercept him before hand.
Swarm Form– (4) +1 rank
Type: Utility
Incantation:
Effect: The caster transforms into a swarm of bats made out of shadow. The total mass of these bats is equivelant to the actual mass of the caster. While in this form the caster is unable to cast spells, benefit from magic items or be healed. However the caster does become immune to physical attacks, and cannot be targeted by a mind affecting technique unless it can target multiple opponents. Techniques which are capable of obliterating/damaging everything in the area can cause half damage to the caster. While in this form the caster cannot use spells or cause damage to an opponent beyond what a normal swarm of bats could do. The caster is capable of flying in a similar fashion as normal bats. This technique lasts a number of posts equal to it’s rank* 2

Type: Offensive/ Defensive
Range: 15 meters(offensive), 1 meter (defensive)
Incantation: Exorior phasmatis ut habito in meus animus , tribuo mihi macies umbra redimio Familius
Effect; This spell summons a shadow familiar (appearing as a gigantic doll like creature made out of shadow , torn cloth and leather) which mimics the movements of its caster creating massive fists and shroud like shields in addition to thin ribbon like projectiles. The barrier-shrouds and fists are capable of automatically defending the caster from any overt attack regardless of whether or not the caster can detect it. If the barrier is struck with 4* its rank of force in a single turn then it will dissipate, however damage to it is not cumulative and so it must either be destroyed all at once or it will not be broken at all. Additionally, the fists deal damage equivilant to the spells rank*4 converged saggitta magica shots. Additionally the familiar has a number of blade-like ribbons equal to its rank, which can be fired as saggitta magica shots except they do slashing instead of piercing shots. Any overt attack against the caster will be percieved by the familiar and blocked, however movements which are not overtly hostile will not be picked up by the familiar and can be used to harm the caster. However if the caster so choses they can move the familiar independently of themselves and even have it defend them on command. This spell will dissipate after its rank*2 in posts and will then require a three post cool down.
Shadows embrace - (4)
Type: Utility
Range: touch
Incantation: Adveho iam frater quod sanctimonialis. Permissum nos complexo nostrum cado socius per patefacio telum quod tutela pro lemma. Reverto lemma ut uterus umbra ut vires per partum. Penetro locus laxamentum. Umbra complexo
Effect; This spell creates a temporary cocoon of shadow, suffused with healing energies. The healing energies suffusing it are capable of stabilizing a dying person or healing a moderately damaged person back to 75% health. The cocoons are mainly meant for transport however and are fragile. A single attack is capable of breaking them. Those inside the cocoons will become unconscious and cannot fight or make actions while inside, nor can they exit the cocoons themselves without external help or the spell is completed. In order for a person to receive the benefit of this spell they must remain in the cocoons, without being broken out for six consecutive posts. Once this time is over those inside the cocoons will wake up and may continue fighting. (Heavily injured or those close to death require 12 posts in the cocoons and will only be restored to 50% health). Anyone who is broken out of the cocoons does not regain any health.
Evil Eye- (8)
Type: Offensive
Range: Any visible target within 10 meters
Incantation:Evil Eye
Effect:This is a very powerful very ancient spell. By looking at a person hatefully and with harmful intent the caster is able to curse the target. However in order for this to work the caster must make direct eye contact with the target long enough to say the words "evil eye" without blinking. Glasses or other transparent materials will interrupt the casting. There must be absolutely nothing but air obstructing the casters gaze and the targets eyes. Magical barriers can block the gaze. When hit by the curse the target will feel weak and sick, suffering -10 speed and -10 endurance to a minimum of 1. This effect will last a number of posts equal to the techniques rank. Because of the karmic backlash which would result otherwise, this technique can only be used once per thread.
