Jess had set up a fighting area of sorts on her patch of the beach with her earth magic over the last few days, and sent out the flyers that she was looking for a training duel with someone. Now she was pacing in the fighting area, her shrine built into the beachside cliff not too far off... She wondered if anyone had seen the posters... She provided both location and all the contact information she could, hoping someone would answer...

Joseph ends up at the beach looking at woman that seems to be 9 feet tall passing around in what looked to be fighting arena. With a flyer in his hand he asked the woman: "Are you Jessica Emiline?"

Jess nodded, looking down at Joseph. Form malletspace she retreived both of her tonfa, weilding one in each hand. "Glad to see someone spotted my flyers." On the flyer there was the additional information that Jess was a self-defence teacher and was looking to see for the sake of her students watching professionals if anyone could actually defeat her... Her point bewing there's always someone that can defeat you... Matter of fact the majority of her about 50 students arrived now, taking their seats... Even little Nana, who intentionally sat away from most of the others, isolating herself. If Joseph had read the flyers, he knew that Jess despite looking scary would do her best just to subdue him or knock him unconscious...

"It's a pleaseure to meet you. My name is Joseph, I look forward to our spar." Joseph says bowing his head. He looks at his sorrunding and notices all of Jess students watching him, he just smiles back at them. He enters the arena and takes a couple of deep breathes, "Ok, i'm ready when you are."

"Ok then." Jess said in a rough yet still feminine voice. "3..." She got down so that the tonfa were supporting her weight as well. "2..." She thrust forward, her legs leaving the ground. "1!" She shouted as her weapons left the ground and she rushed in the air towards Joseph feet-first, aiming to land on him and pin him down.

Before Jess count reached 1, Joseph touches the ground, "Petracious Oblintus". When Jess takes a leap
"Orbis terrarum est meus domus , orbis terrarum mos servo mihi ex vulnero". A wall of eart comes from the ground between Jees and Joseph.

"Vultus of nex ut punctum meus hostilis!"

At the earthen wall springing up, Jess reflexively pulled up, pushing away with her hands so she didn't hurt herself crashing into the wall. "Ah, Another Earth Mage I see." She said, before startin an incantation. "Terris Mundus Arcania Armis" She enunciated clearly, plates of earthen armor starting to form into some heavy-duty protection around her... She was ready for whatever he had in store.

Joseph lets earth wall crumble and is seen with 3 stone spear in front, he looks surpirsed at seeing the earth armor. He throws one spear to see how strong the armor is and keeps the other in his hands to protect himself from any other surprise. "Hehe i didn't expect to fight someone of the same element as me. Oh well this makes it more interesting."

The Earth armor was tough, all throwing that spear did was chip both the spear and the armor... Her tonfa went back into malletspace as Jess took the earthen spear, doing a hand-chop to remove the spear point and turn it into a simple earthen staff.
"Terris Mundus Arcanis Terri Rangi Multipli" She stated calmly, several rocks about the size of her head levitating from the ground. She knocked each at him at a different angle... And couldn't resist adding a pun. "Yeah, well life throws a lot at you."

Seeing all the rocks levatating in front him, Joseph chanted as quickly as possible "Rumpus orbis terrarum subter supter nostrum pluma". A hole was created 10 feet deep was created below Joseph, but it was a bit slow and he got hit in the left shoulder by one of the rocks. "Rumpus orbis terrarum subter supter nostrum pluma" the ground above him close leaving jess without knowing where he is. Joseph new he didn't have much time due to lack of oxegyn so he began chanting. "Orbis terrarum est meus domus , orbis terrarum mos servo mihi ex vulnero".

Jess looked around. Where had Joseph went? He wasn't above her, behind her... He was a fellow Earth mage, so he had to be under the ground. It was the only place that made sense! So she quickly improvised a spell to let her tunnel around and try to find him. True, improvising would use more energy. But she hadn't aquired a tried-and-true spell that let her tunnel like that. so there was little choice.

"You know what the say, bottoms up. Release" Joseph say's as a counter to her first pun, as he is behind her and an earth wall comes above from below jess feet sending here through the ground above and back outside. Joseph jumps after her and throws his two stone spears that he had left and takes out his dagger from his pocket.

Jess hadn't been expecting that first attack, but was still able to block the spears thanks to her good reflexes as she got her buckler out of malletspace. Being around William had benefitted her in some ways as she read Joseph's body language to tell what he was doing. She got out her net gun from malletspace, shooting a net at Joseph... She didn't plan on letting anyone take a dagger to her anytime soon, that was clear.

Joseph see's the net coming and is able to jumpout of its way. "Damn, that net guns gonna be a problem". Joseph know that he's used to many spells already and is running out of energy. Knowing his best chance for now is close combat he dashes forward in hopes of reaching Jess before she fires another net.

Unfortunately for Joseph he wasn't the only one whose speed had been underestimated As Jess rapidly pulled the trigger again upon seeing he had dodged the first shot... If this one failed he would be within melee range and jess would be forced to find a way to subdue him, disarm him, or knock him out without the help of the net gun.

Joseph saw the net that was coming toward him, so rapidly changed direction and jumped to the left, but changing directions at that speed made him lose and tumble over in the ground landing on his left shoulder and damaging it even more. He quickly lifted his face to spot Jess and got up to his feet with his dagger in his right hand.

Jess was surprised he was able to change direction so qickly, but nevertheless exchanged her net gun for her pair of tonfa.... She rushed towards Joseph, aiming to disarm him and then get him in a neckhold if the disarm attempt worked... If not she'd try knocking him in the head... Just hard enough to knock him out, nothing more.

Joseph quickly got on his back, put his dagger in its holdster, put his knees to the chest, chanted a quick spell that lifted the ground beneath his head just a bit. He then put his hands on the lifted ground in his head and used is arm strength to jump toward Jess who was rushing at him, feet first.

Jess quickly grabbed at him, deciding to try using the typical 'bear squeeze' the try and suffocate him... She wasn't putting up with this much logner, it seemed she'd met someone as persistent as herself... But unlike her duel with William she wasn't going to forfeit... If she was going out she wanted it to be with a bang.

Joseph was caught in a bearhug and knew he was in trouble. He knew there was only one thing he could do and that this was his last shot. He chanted "Rumpus orbis terrarum subter supter nostrum pluma". The ground beneath them split open in a hole 15 feet deep. With the loss of balance he got loose of the bearhug and put his feet in Jess chest to drive her to the bottom of the hole.

Jess hadn't been expecting this at all... She tried to control her fall but the distance was too short... She landed on her head. "Ow..." She screamd as the rest of her body hit the ground and her eyes started to close... "You... Win... Joseph." She managed to say, clearly in pain, before her tensed arms and legs relaxed and she fell unconscious... Nana rushed over to her teacher, or would have if that hole wasn't preventing the 7-year-old from getting to her teacher... The rest of Jess's students merely looked on in shock.... This guy had just beaten their teacher, and they'd never seen her lose a battle.

"SIGH" Joseph falls to the ground. "I'll admit it was fun, and you're the toughest competitor I've fought with." With what little energy he had left he chanted a spell that lifted the ground slowly so the students could help their teacher. When they reach ground level Joseph falls unconscious as he see's the little girl called Nana be the first one to get to her teacher worried.

Shinji quickly examined the two, being the medical expert... "All they need is some rest." He concluded... Nana gave a sigh of relief, though the fact that Joseph was the first to defeat Jess without her frofeiting herself still weighed heavy in their mind.

"Might as well get them someplace they can get that rest then." Alice said, using her telekinetic magic to pick up Joseph by the feet. "Someone help me, I still can't do this on my own."

At that Roy came over the young fire specialist, and lifted Joseph's head up...

The rest had to deal with Jess, who was quite a heavy load. They brought the two to the shrine Jess had constructed some weeks ago in the beachside cliff...

Nana and Shinji decided they wanted to stay with the two, and while the rest left they lit the candles which produced purple flames.
